FSlack Groups — Add Experts Quickly

Slack API Groups are awesome! How often have you wanted to quickly add a Product or Success team to a channel, the group you rely on to get something done quickly? This feature allows you to do just that. I made a video below of how to create a Slack Group (note, this is on Paid plans only).

Example of creating and using a Slack Group

I love this as I can create my own team of in-house experts or subject matter experts (SMEs). They can span multiple departments and specialties, and be a strike group for important customer issues or perhaps there is a technical question only this group can answer. This can be used in conjuntion with a tool like Centro, essentially surrounding your customer with the best experts in the company.

Let’s say it’s the end of the month, and your a sales person who needs to get a deal done to make the quarter. The prospect asks about a technical question you’re not entirely sure the answer to. Instead of drudging through technical document or logging a case, why not quickly add the Product and Engineering experts to your Centro channel dealing with this opportunity?

You simply @mention the group to your channel, it adds all of the members to the channel, and ask your question. This lets them see all of your conversation in context, along with any emails or SMS messages from the prospect (thanks to Centro’s email and text feature), as well as all relevant Salesforce data.

Problem solved! No need to remember the 5 people that make up your SME team on Product, just remember the 1 group to always add when you have a technical problem!
